Question 1: What is the one primary quality you look for in a significant other?

Kindness and integrity are at the top of my list.

Question 2: What is your biggest regret?

The years have gone by so fast. When younger and busy with getting an education, working, raising two daughters, I think my biggest regret was not spending more time with my mother. Although I was there for her passing, I now know more personally how lonely a parent can get not seeing their grown children more frequently. Count each moment a blessing for those of you who have your children and grand kids nearby.

Question 3: Who would you like to please the most?

As a child, I believe we all want to please our parents. I also think as an adult, no matter how old we still want to, even if we don’t admit it. Yet, as the years go by, we often try not to have those feelings, particularly when frustrated with our parents about something. As our parents grow older, the relationship also changes in many ways.

There are also those times when our parents may treat us as if we were still little children, which can be quite annoying. Those annoyances soon disappear when our parents are no longer with us. Creating just the right balance with any relationship is key to treasuring each moment and memory.

Question 4: When you meet someone for the very first time what do you want them to think about you?

I would hope the person would be comfortable with me and feel respected. I would also hope they would consider me a genuine listener.

Question 5: Now that it’s behind you, what did you do last week that was memorable?

Six months ago, I finished the weaving phase of materials to be used in a gorgeous Vogue jacket pattern for my youngest daughter. Last week I finally started cutting out the pattern. As any of you seamstresses can relate, some Vogue patterns can be tricky to figure out. Yet, I braved my first cuts and will soon start putting the pieces together. Also, I will hopefully have it done by the time my daughter and grandson come for Christmas.

Question 6: What is the most insensitive thing a person can do?

We all need to know the person talking with us is sincerely present in the moment. Whenever there are so many things running through my head, I need to put those racing thoughts on “pause” and consciously be present with the person next to me. Whether a word is spoken or not, each of us need to be recognized as present in that moment, whether the person is standing in line at the grocery store, pumping gas, or confirming a doctor’s appointment.

Question 7: What are you most grateful for?

I am most grateful for my ability to function as well as I am at 74 years old. Without my faith, family, and friends, I don’t think I would be around today.

Now, it’s your turn again to describe the one primary quality you look for in a significant other, your biggest regret, who you want to please the most, when you meet someone for the first time what do you want them to think about you, what you did last week that was memorable, the most insensitive thing a person can do, and what you are most grateful for when you think of “Reflection” and your life.
