What a beautiful first Northerner with cold weather for those of us who love the fall and winter more than the heat of the summer! As October continues, let’s see what this third week has for us with the next set of questions for week forty-two of 2018, challenging us with this month’s Recreation/Entertainment lifeskill. These questions are offered by Bob Tiede at At Leading With Questions, from wisdom leaders around the nation and world.*
Question 1: What is your favorite place on Earth?
Right here in this beautiful Texas Hill Country. The only thing that would make it more wonderful is having my daughters living here!
Question 2: What is the most recent dream you remember having while sleeping?
I dreamed I was pregnant again, with twins! Now, that is a wild dream for a lady of 73 years!
Question 3: What confuses you?
There are all kinds of little and big things that confuse me. But when it comes to recreation and entertainment, I just don’t know why people would ever watch horror movies. Halloween has never been one of my favorite holidays. Just ask my daughters! I have conceded to creatively make it a more positive experience for those sweet kids who come to my door. My husband always buys loads of candy and insists that I am the one who answers the door. His excuse is that his real face would probably scare the kids! I then tell him to just put on his Daffy Duck face and no one would know it was him except for a few who would recognize Daffy John anywhere!
Question 4: What’s something you wish you had done earlier in life?
I wish I had been more health conscious when I was younger as a child and young adult. I may have gratefully missed some of the challenges I experienced in later years.
Question 5: How do you deal with isolation and loneliness?
I keep myself so involved in people’s lives and projects, I rarely ever feel isolated or lonely. Yet, when I do, it is usually when my husband is on a trip somewhere or I haven’t seen my daughters in recent months. When those feelings happen, I call up a friend for some fun together; and if my hubby is around, I ask him on a date!
Question 6: What makes someone a hero?
Someone in sports or entertainment is a hero to me when they not only perform with excellence and genuine joy in what they are doing. They also have as a priority compassion and care for others in practical ways in their daily lives. One I can think of right now is Tim Tebow. He definitely knows how to balance his job and life; and knows what is most important.
Question 7: If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?
My response here relates to question four. I would make sure my body was as healthy as it could be. I would have also faced my fears earlier head on. I think I would have been more courageous and done more adventurous things. . . maybe even skydiving!
